It really is paradise!

Sandy and Danian set in front of an unreal sunsetTake a look at this picture.  If I didn’t know better, I would say we are in front of some kind of graphic and not a real sunset…it’s just too perfect.  Yet, here we sit–my husband and I–at Ferraro’s one of the great restaurants at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea.  It was the last night of an unreal stay at the most beautiful place on earth, staying at a Hawaii’s only Five Star and Five Diamond Resort.  Here’s the best part, we’re sending our listeners there for the trip a day giveaway!  Yes, put your picture here with your spouse–or whoever you would like to take.  Look for more pictures and videos on the site…and of course, make sure you’re signed up for the Trip a Day Giveaway…then just listen for your name on my show every weekday at 10am!  Aloha!

fourseasons.jpgIn just a few days I will have the pleasure of checking out first hand our new Trip a Day Giveaway destination.  Yes, somebody has to do it!  It’s not just Maui…but it’s the Four Seasons Resort at Wailea.  Yup, the Four Seasons.  My husband and I never had our honeymoon so I feel blessed that we get to go to the most beautiful place on earth.  True, it will be a working vacation, I’ll be broadcasting and reporting to you on all the cool things to do–again–a difficult assignment, but I feel up to the challenge.  But…best of all, I get to give these spectacular vacations for two  awayevery weekday on my show.  It’s even easier to win now with the Trip a Day Giveway always at 10am.   Just ask Charlene Abercrombie of Detroit–our first Maui winner.  She’s going to be celebrating her retirement from General Motors on her vacation.  So honeymoon, retirement, just a fun trip–I’m sure you’d love this.  If you’re not registered, do not pass go…go immediately to the Trip a Day Giveaway page and sign up!

Welcome to a new season

September 11th, 2008 by sandy-kovach-wvmv

It’s hard to believe the summer season is over.  What a whoosh of great activites and music.  I can’t even tell you my favorite concert because they were all so good.Okay, maybe it was Smooth Jazz Fest.  Of course, for me personally, getting married was the highlight of my summer (you would hope so, right!).  I’ve loved our family outings too and watching my son get closer to his new step father. So, there was lots of excitement and change over the summer!

Yesterday, on my morning walk I saw my breath for the first time (uh-oh) and have had to use the rear window de-frost talking my son to school in the mornig. Oh yes…back to school and fourth grade.  My son is big, tall for his age and acting more grown up all the time (relatively speaking of course).  I have so many listeners remind of when I was pregnant and marvel how ten years could have passed so quickly with my smooth jazz family.  Well, we’re all still together and here’s looking forward to a new season and (I hope) ten more years.

Farewell to my Canton Friends!

August 25th, 2008 by sandy-kovach-wvmv

I will miss my Friday nights in Canton, what a summer we had.  I got to see some bands I love and was introduced to some new ones.  To be sure, Detroit has such a wealth of great muscisians!  I loved seeing old friends and making new ones as our listeners came out in the hundreds each Friday and we gathered in parking lots along Ford Road.  Some sat in the chairs provided, some brought there own, some sat in the back of their vans with the gate open, some on grassy patches on blankets….but everyone enjoyed the music.  From toddlers to seniors–people danced and listened.  We gave away tons of prizes with our dance contests as brave souls climbed on stage to show us what they had.  Thanks so much to the Canton DDA…they deserve a big shout out for throwing this party for free.  As a visitor, I not only felt welcome…but almost like a resident by the time it was all over.  They’d love to hear your comments on how they can make it even better next year–so let them know–or send me your comments and I’ll make sure they get them.  Either use the comment section below, or write me at kovach@wvmv.com.  PS:  Don’t forget about the September 6th Concert with Chieli Minucci and Special EFX…it’s your chance to support the arts in Canton and see a great show….details are on our Calendar Page!
