Awkward footage of Tom Cruise preaching the merits of Scientology has hit the Internet. The clips, reportedly posted by Mark Ebner, who runs hollywoodinterrupted.com, show Cruise in a sit-down interview situation describing how Scientology works for him, while the Mission: Impossible theme song plays in the background. Other footage reportedly shows Cruise rallying against "suppressive persons" in front of a crowd chanting "LRH" (for Church founder L. Ron Hubbard) in the background.
Cruise on what it means to be a Scientologist: "Being a Scientologist, when you drive past an accident, it's not like anyone else. As you drive past, you know you have to do something about it. Because you know you're the only one that can really help."
Cruise on Scientology and social work: "We are the authorities on getting people off drugs, we are the authorities on the mind, we are the authorities on improving conditions.... we can rehabilitate criminals, way to happiness we can bring peace, and unite cultures. Once you know these tools and you know that they work it's not good enough that 'I'm just doing okay.'"
