Siena Literacy Center is looking for volunteers to tutor adult
learners! The purpose of our adult basic education program is to
provide a tutoring service in a comfortable learning environment. This
program assists adults in improving their ability to successfully meet
the challenges of everyday living by learning how to read, write, do
basic math and execute beginning computer techniques.
As a tutor, you will be paired with one adult learner to teach
reading, math, or English as a Second Language. The subject choice
will be yours. We will provide texts, supplementary resources, and
staff support to help you teach. Tutor/Adult Learner partners meet at
the Center once a week for an hour and a half. Partners meet weekly
until the learner reaches his or her goals. Hours are flexible; we are
open from 9am-8pm Monday through Thursday.
