The Harry Potter franchise may be extended if there is any truth to rumors that the film version of JK Rowling's seventh novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be released as two separate films. London's Mirror is reporting that crew working on the movie adaptation of the sixth book have been told that Deathly Hallows will be divided in half.
Although the films are extremely lucrative -- the first five have grossed over $4 billion worldwide -- drawing out the last installment would reportedly be done for artistic, not financial reasons. "There's so much to fit that the view is the last movie should be in two halves," a film source told the Mirror. "There is a huge battle when Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, takes on Voldemort that needs to be done really well."
There is also a rumor that Warner Brothers, which produces the Potter films, is thinking about hiring a big name director like Steven Spielberg for the final film.
