The winners of the 65th Golden Globe Awards were announced January 14th. Due to ongoing Hollywood writers strike, there was no formal awards ceremony. Instead, Billy Bush and Nancy O'Dell of Access Hollywood announced the winners during a live telecast on NBC. Atonement picked up two awards, one for best drama film and the other for best original score. Sweeney Todd also won two honors: best musical/comedy film and best musical/comedy actor for star Johnny Depp.
In this clip from last night's Golden Globes, Sweeney Todd is named the best comedy/musical motion picture: (Billy Bush) "The winner is Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street. The film is based on the 1979 Tony Award-winning musical. And it is the sixth collaboration between Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton. Huge." (Nancy O'Dell) "I was just wondering if the two musicals between Hairspray and Sweeney Todd were going to split the vote but obviously not."
In this clip from last night's Golden Globes announcement ceremony, Atonement wins for best drama: (Billy Bush) "And the winner for best motion picture drama is Atonement. Atonement received 7 Globe nominations this year, the most for any film."
